Happy St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays celebrated by people of all backgrounds, Irish and non-Irish. The day is to honor Ireland’s patron saint, St. Patrick. It is said that when he worked as a missionary in Ireland, he often used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually in the U.S. and Ireland. In Ireland, celebrations are mostly religious. Here in the U.S., common St. Patrick’s Day traditions include the St. Patrick’s Day parade, drinking Irish beer or other Irish liquors, and of course, wearing green.
